Custom Waterjet Cut Replacement Speedometer Part for Automotive Repair

Precision makes all the difference when restoring classic cars. For this project, we (Abrasive Waterjet Services in Auckland) produced a replacement speedometer part to help bring an older vehicle’s dashboard back to life.

The challenge was to replicate a tiny pinhole needed for the speedometer mechanism.

Using our OMAX 5555 waterjet, we achieved an incredibly fine pinhole size of just 0.65mm — perfect for customers to then drill and ream to match their speedometer pin precisely.

The bottom plate shown was the worn sample provided for reference.This project demonstrates how precision waterjet cutting can support automotive repairs and upgrades by creating high-accuracy replacement parts quickly and reliably.
